Adilam has completed the second deployment of Arcus as part of the City of Sydney’s network-wide RFID transformation, with successful installations at Green Square and Darling Square Libraries.

This milestone marks the largest Arcus deployment in the program to date. Legacy end-of-life Bibliotheca equipment was fully decommissioned and replaced with a complete Arcus ecosystem. The upgrade included new self-service kiosks, security gates, live return shelves, staff workstations, smart & secure return chutes, Arcus Self-Leveling Bins, handheld devices, and an Arcus Tub Lifter – delivering a major operational reset across two high-profile branches.

The deployment was completed ahead of schedule with minimal disruption to library operations. All removed equipment will be recycled or redeployed where possible.

At Green Square and Darling Square, Arcus is supporting faster, more flexible and more staff-friendly circulation workflows. The addition of the Arcus Tub Lifter strengthens the focus on staff OH&S, helping reduce manual handling in busy returns environments and supporting safer movement of returned materials through back-of-house workflows.

Enabled by Arcus’ cloud-to-cloud speed and responsiveness, both branches now benefit from a modern RFID environment designed for high-volume public library service. Borrower preferences are remembered at any kiosk across the network, self-service experiences can be tailored by location, and staff workflows have been completely redesigned around Arcus’ speed and flexibility.

This second deployment builds on the successful first stage at Glebe and Ultimo Libraries, and reflects the strong collaboration between Adilam, City of Sydney, and Softlink. Together, the teams continue to refine and strengthen transaction speed, response times, returns handling behaviour, and the broader borrower and staff experience.

Adilam will continue the staged rollout across the City of Sydney network over the coming weeks, including the introduction of Adilam Smart Lockers – an Australian first.
