UTS Checks In on Smarter Self-Service
Adilam has completed the installation and commissioning of four new Arcus Self-Service Kiosks at University of Technology Sydney Library.
The deployment includes two freestanding kiosks and two desktop units, providing flexible self-service capacity across different library zones. As with all Arcus equipment, the kiosks were built to order, allowing the configuration to be precisely tailored to UTS’ requirements:
- A custom all-white vinyl finish to align with the UTS Library interior
- A narrow, tempered glass circulation platform designed for a refined footprint
- A custom RFID reader integrated for UTS’ MIFARE DESFire student cards
Barcode scanning is not required. Students simply tap their UTS student card to the reader to begin a self-service session, delivering a fast, intuitive experience that mirrors the rest of campus access systems.
Arcus Self-Service provides a mature, high-performance platform with clear benefits for both users and library teams:
- Student preferences for language, receipt format and accessibility features are remembered, and persist between sessions and stations
- A bespoke look and feel that reflects the identity of the institution
- A centralised, intuitive promotions module for targeted messaging and service awareness
The result is a streamlined, card-based self-service experience that is fast, accessible, and purpose-built for a high-throughput academic library environment.
