Wimmera Self-Service Kiosk No Longer on Borrowed Time

Adilam is delivering a staged RFID upgrade across the Wimmera region, supporting libraries in Victoria’s remote west with modern, cost-effective infrastructure.

The rollout includes:

  • 12 new Arcus RFID workstation pads
  • 5 Arcus Flow people counters
All components will come online over the coming weeks.

The centrepiece of the project is the retrofit of an existing FE V4 Self Loan Station that had reached end of life. Rather than replacing the kiosk at significant cost, Wimmera Libraries engaged Adilam to convert the unit to run Arcus Self-Service.

Key kiosk components were replaced where required, while the existing cabinet and footprint were retained. This approach extended the useful life of the hardware and delivered a modern self-service experience at a fraction of the cost of a new kiosk.

Arcus Self-Service brings clear operational and member benefits:

  • Member preferences for language, receipt format and accessibility features are remembered, and persist across all the whole network
  • A bespoke look and feel that reflects the Council’s local identity
  • A centralised, intuitive promotions module for targeted messaging and service awareness

Adilam has delivered another flexible, intelligent self-service solution that meets contemporary expectations, reduces capital expenditure, and demonstrates how refurbishment and smart software can deliver long-term value for library services of all sizes.
